Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my

I now have a few friends also doing their own walks but will be sharing same page .Really appreciate their support and yours for donating Thank you

Hi Im Emma Abdullah Founder Of MOTS , I set My charity and support group after slowly recovering from a small bowel, liver, pancreas and stomach transplant on 1st/2nd .01.2011 ..This Newyears Eve 10yrs ago mark's a massive milestone for a transplant life.My Family were told I would probably have 24hrs to live unless a donor was found at this time I was newly married to Dio we had been together 10yrs by then and we had just had our little Pheebs who was only 16mths old.My world was slipping away from me and their world(me) was fading away.

Newyears Day Dio received a call from  The amazing Addenbrookes team to say they had found a match for all the organs sadly that meant someone had lost their life and a family were receiving devastating news ,when mine was given hope.

Dio came over with me whilst they prepped me for surgery , I cant remember much because of toxins going to my brain but I can remember saying to Dio "No one else is gonna have you! " haha I  was definately determined to get back to him & our Pheebs.Dio found that part hard as he had to tell me I would only be asleep for a few hours as I was panicking about it.My operation was 18hrs and I was asleep for quite a few days .

Dio ,My mam and Pheebs stayed in Cambridge for 11mths with me until I was stable enough to come back to Wales...So Newyears is mixed emotions for us all, I get sad coz someone had died and saved me ,Im so happy and grateful because im still here with my lovelies but feel guilty at the same time .Dio , My Mam & Family go a bit quiet because of the memories they have of me being so ill leading up to the transplant operation. Which wasnt that long thankfully.

Dio sat with me his wife and Mum of his baby not knowing if he was going to see me  awake again ...He stuck by my side throughout everything and My Mam.

Recovering was a tough journey having lost all my mobility etc , Dio had to learn how to mix my antibiotics ,change dressings, do my line feed be my physio, help me to learn to walk again.

I wouldnt be here if it wasnt for My donor, of course the team at Addenbrookes  and My rocks Dio ,Pheebs and My Mam.

So this Newyears Eve I would have had a party to celebrate with people that mean the most to me but as the way things are thats not happening! So ive decided to do something to mark this special milestone , Me , Dio, Pheebs and My  Mam will be doing a video diary from 1st Jan till 31st Jan ,(done by Pheebs)

We will walk 40miles which is My 4 organs ive had transplanted x My 10th Anniversary .

It will be set up linked to a justgiving page for MOTS to help others going through similar journeys.

You can also do your own 40 miles if you would like to mark My milestone with us :) just let me know ..(it would mean alot to me)

Or if you want to donate to the page that will be fab or just sharing my posts will be amazing too ...

My whole family mean alot to me as do my special family friends ❤

MOTS was set up by me in 2012 after I lost my friend Dawn ,We were meant to do this together , but she sadly lost her transplant battle before we started.

My sis in law Sam Abdullah took over with me and we became The first Registered Uk charity supporting pre and post Multi organ Transplant patients and their families which we are very proud of and I couldnt have done that without her .We have a team now of mainly transplant patients who help with the charity occasionally too and couldnt be more grateful.

Dio always says Everything happens for a reason and we think the only possible thing this could of happened to me was MOTS!For me to go through what I have to know first hand how to help and support others...My members are absolutely amazing friends to me now and go through so much but as adults they don't like publicising the support they get and I respect their pride as thats one thing they have control over but We do need support as a charity to help them in even bigger ways than we do already.

So for now please support me on My milestone by sponsoring, joining in on your own 40 miles(Everyone wants to keep fit for Newyear)  or sharing My posts

Love 💘 Emma page.
