Story
Huntington’s Disease is a life limiting, debilitating and terminal illness that many people have never heard of. Between April and October I am planning a number of challenges racking up a total of over 500 kilometers to raise awareness of this utterly terrifying disease, that as a family have unfortunately had to learn about in the most difficult way.
In March 2020, as the UK was preparing a full lock down, my beautiful Mum Jayne was confirmed to have Huntington’s Disease (HD). The disease attacks the brains cognitive function and over a period time strips it’s victim of just about all independence. The faulty gene impacts movement, learning, thinking and emotions. At present there is no known cure for HD and the disease holds a 50% genetic chance of being passed on to offspring putting Hebe and I at risk.
The Huntington’s Disease Association (HDA) are a small charity with branches across England and Wales offering help and support to families and friends of those affected by HD. Our family have received a vast amount of support from the Shropshire and Mid Wales branch of the HDA and if during this challenge I can raise funds to aid the branch continue their fantastic work that would mean the world
So the challenges…

- 02/04/2022: Shropshire Half Mammathon – 21.1 km
