Story
Hello! Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Yes, you read it correctly...This April I will be travelling to Nepal in the attempt to trek to Mount Everest Base Camp. I will be trekking to a whopping 17,598 ft to reach the Base Camp (and back!) which will take me around 10 days to complete. Needless to say I am slightly scared and apprehensive, however there is method to my madness as I am doing it in support of a wonderful charity called the SOS Children's Villages. It is a global charity who give orphaned children from all over the world a chance to be part of a loving family, something so many people take for granted.
Why the SOS Children's Villages? Just over a year ago now I watched a documentary on the BBC called 'Zimbabwe's Forgotten Children'. The title was what initially caught my eye, after I was lucky enough to visit this beautiful country over a year ago. Unfortunately though, Zimbabwe faces the sad reality that 1/4 of it's children are orphaned and abandoned due to AIDS, poverty and illness.The SOS Children's Villages sole aim is to help every child belong to a family, and to grow up with the love, respect and security they are deprived of and therefore so desperately need.
To put in perspective how any money you may sponsor me could help, here are some examples of how it will be used by the charity;
Just £7 could provide a child's school fees and school materials for one month
Just £15 could pay for a month's transport to the SOS school for a child living in the local community
Just £20 could sponsor a child for a month, providing them with a loving family, home and community
Just £25 could provide food and clean water for a month for a child living in a SOS Village
Just £75 could cover medical costs for all the children and staff living in the SOS Children's Village for ten days
Please take the time to watch the youtube clip by clicking on the link below. It is a shorter, edited part of the documentary 'Zimbabwe's Forgotten Children' which shows the story of two Zimbabwean girls Esther and her baby sister Tino, and how the has charity helped them.

I will be covering all expenses for the trip, e.g. travel expenses and food, myself so that every penny I raise goes to people who need it the most!
So please, please, please dig deep and donate now. I would really appreciate your support, and I am sure more children like Esther and Tino would too!
