Story
Emilie is taking on the 2.6 challenge tomorrow (26.4.20) on behalf of kidscan a children’s cancer research charity for whom she is an ambassador.
Kidscan are passionate about finding ways to make treatment for children’s cancer safer, kinder and more effective, since many, like Emilie, are left with life long side effects and sadly for some children the treatment just isn’t effective enough. With thoughts of our angel friends in our minds and being inspired by a netball challenge her coach has set her, she has decided this 2.6 challenge is going to be netball based.
Tomorrow Emilie is going to attempt 4 separate challenges.
- To pass the ball continously for 26 minutes without dropping it
- To do 26 quick passes in 26 seconds (again without dropping it.
- 26 goals in 2.6 minutes (2 mins 40)
- And then based on her netball challenge pass the ball under each leg and around her waist 26 times in 2.6 minutes - something that Emilie find really challenging.
She would love it if any of her team, any fellow netballers or any friends would like to join her in attempting this challenge with her, from the safety of their own homes.
Madeleine, Emilie’s 4 year old little sister is going to have a go too but has also decided to attempt to do 26 forward roles in 2.6 minutes, but to make it more difficult is going to attempt to catch the ball after each role.
We know due to this current situation money will be tight for many people so she has come up with the idea of asking people to sponsor her (and anyone else who wants to join in this challenge), just 2.6 pounds (£2.60)
It will come as no surprise to most of you that I love netball and 7 years go I didn’t believe I would ever get to see Emilie play the sport. I couldn’t be prouder that she now plays for a local club and thanks to the support of her fab coaches and gorgeous team mates, she is now just as passionate about netball as I am.
