Story
I volunteer on the railway at Amberley Museum. It is a wonderful place that brings happiness to so many different parts of the community. All of the staff and volunteers feel the closure keenly, as we all wish we could be there all the time. The museum and the people there are very dear to my heart. I’d like to do as much as possible to help the museum reopen once life starts returning to normal.
I have MS, and I enjoy running. Recently I had a relapse that impacted my ability to walk. It would make me super happy to manage a 5k run on my birthday, so if it helps to think of that when donating then please feel free to enjoy the mental image of me staggering, sweating and swearing along Worthing seafront. Below is Amberley’s official statement about the temporary closure:
After considering the health and well-being of our visitors, volunteers and staff, we have decided to temporarily close Amberley Museum to visitors until the current situation caused by Coronavirus (COVID-19) eases. We cant wait to welcome you back to the museum as soon as possible, but without your continued support this might not be possible. Amberley Museum is an independent museum, meaning we receive no regular funding from government or local authorities. We derive most of our income from our amazing visitors and supporters. People like you. With your support we will be able to reopen and (after the unexpected delay) you will be able to enjoy all our regular exhibits, our special event days such as our James Bond and Steam Punk weekends, and classic vehicle shows. Families and visitors of all ages have enjoyed Amberley Museum for 40 years; by making a donation today, you can help make it another 40.
