Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Many people are affected by heart complications and issues in life and it is one of the main body parts to keep us alive, constantly working at different speeds to pump blood through the body.

Personally I have never suffered with any and I can say so far I have been fortunate enough to have a healthy heart but my wife was born with a heart murmur, a slight hole in her heart and this was discovered when she was a child, which later on in life we now know our cat has the same condition, luckily neither have had any problems with their murmurs and are both fighting fit.
My wife and I have been together for nearly 12 years and she has always been there and supported me, she is my rock and I am the person I am today because of her, she holds me up and lifts me when I fall, she does everything for me and my our family and when we met she stole my heart, which is why I am doing this to say thank you for monitoring and looking after hers.

My father in law though has had a heart attack in the past and received support after surgery from the British Heart Foundation so I'd like to do this as he again will always put family first and has a heart of gold so for everything they did again I'd like to say thank you.

But when my own father went in for a routine stinth to be fitted and then seeing him being wheeled back from theatre to be told he couldn't have it due to the main artiry across his heart being blocked and him needing a triple bypass, to then see him in tears holding my step mother's hand knowing how scared he was and your stood in the same room seeing this, now that is scary.
He was in hospital for weeks and hooked up to all sorts of machines, at times I struggled to go and visit, to go and see him like that, I would sit in the car park and argue with myself and tell myself he needed me to be there, he needed me now more than ever, just to sit with him, even though with the meds he didn't know who I was after five minutes and struggle to string a sentence together I had to go in, as tough as it was for me it was nothing compared to what he could've gone through.
As the time in hospital went on his movement become better and he was getting better, although coughing and sneezing posed a challenge but that towel came in handy.
I'm glad to say he is now doing well and doesn't struggle as much and recently completed a charity walk, but I wanted to say thank you and am doing this as a way of that, not only did the British Heart Foundation help my father, the man I've looked up to for years, but also my father in law and my wife.

Without the British Heart Foundation and the work they do I wouldn't have the family around me I have today and for that I am eternally grateful.

Many people will know that in the past 8 or 9 months I have started running, not far, mainly 5k routes and Parkruns and for someone who would always be last or in the last 3 during schools cross country this is massive for me, it has helped me no end to clear my mind, helps to keep me calm but mainly with fitness and health, where I have lost weight and become so much healthier too.

Over the next few months I will be increasing my running and trying to cover greater distances to help me complete this challenge, the Great North Run is a massive event and over 50 thousand people attend, I will not be in with the elite runners, no where near but I am sure that I wont be last again, with your help, support and donations to spur me on to the finish line I can achieve this, complete a milestone for myself and raise a lot of money for a charity very close to home for so many.

Please help me out and help me achieve this not just for me but for everyone involved and in need of support from the British Heart Foundation.

Fight for every heartbeat.
