Story
Lauren passed away from meningococcal septicaemia on the 8th of February 2015. She had been my best friend for many years, we had moved to London together and planned our lives round one another. She was the most incredible person I had ever come across and the most intelligent by far, she could have done anything she wanted and was hugely capable. She was a force to be reckoned with, a beautiful person physically and mentally. Genuine, hilarious and a miracle for me to have even known her the short amount of time that I did. She was a blessing and I loved every moment I had with her.
By the time I had got to the hospital to visit, nothing could be done. The symptoms of meningitis are barely recognisable and there isn't enough awareness surrounding the disease. This run is to help push for greater acknowledgement about meningitis so that others understand it, Meningitis Now is a brilliant charity that helps huge numbers through bereavement and coping with the aftermath and impact of meningitis.
This run is to try and give something back and to help families and friends that are coping with the shock of this powerful disease.
