Story
YMM became a charity in its own right in 2019, recognising the desperate need for early support for young people in schools. Money raised goes towards training people to become mentors. Mentors work with young people in local state primary and secondary schools for free. They also do a number of events to get young people involved in the charity, such as the LLHM and Channel Swim, the latter of which saw four teenagers swim the channel and raise £15,000!
I was due to run the LLHM back in March however due to an injury I postponed the run to the Stratford half marathon on Sunday 29th October.
I was inspired to run as the daughter of the founder of Young Minds Matter, Sue Roberts. I have the witnessed the charity’s growth since the very first concert in 2017, and I have seen firsthand the dedication and passion for young peoples mental health, from not only my mum, but the growing team at YMM. I’d like to help raise funds so that YMM can continue to make a positive difference to young peoples lives.
