We raise funds for SCAD research to understand the cause & find treatments

Story

In March 2017 when I was sitting quietly writing a letter, I had my first heart attack and discovered that a Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection caused it. That was the first time I had ever heard of SCAD. In November 2020 whilst sitting at my desk at work, I suffered a second heart attack.

I'm just thankful to be able to celebrate my 60th as so many people whose arteries spontaneously dissect go into cardiac arrest and many die as they often do not fit the heart attack profile and so do not get the treatment they require quickly enough. Often young mums or menopausal women who are otherwise fit and healthy suffer these but more and more men are being diagnosed as having had a heart attack caused by a SCAD. I am therefore using this occasion to raise awareness and funds for research for Beat Scad.
