Every year I take part in the Cold Truth Sleepout in the winter to raise awareness of homelessness and funds for local charities. This year the event was unable to go ahead because of Covid, so instead Mecca Bingo created the Car Kip as an alternative. The event is now going ahead and will strive to get people to think about the different forms Homelessness can take. Many people spend weeks and months living out of their cars, without access the sanitation facilities or basic needs. This is uncomfortable, and extremely dangerous. Spending one night in my car won't touch the reality but hopefully will draw some attention to the issue and raise crucial funds at the same time. Here's some info about Matthew's House, a charity which works hard each day to end homelessness and bring people hope. 

Matthew's House exists to provide Hospitality and Hope to anyone who is in need of support. Matthew’s House is a warm and welcoming building in the heart of Swansea, particularly seeking to serve the homeless & most vulnerable. They offer hospitality and hope to everyone, regardless of their background, beliefs or circumstances. To achieve this, there is a quality pay-as-you-feel cafe, and meet other essential needs. All monies donated via Just Giving page go ONLY towards the work of Matthew’s House and NOT the other activities of The Hill Church.
