Story
On the 6th of March, it will be one year since we said goodbye to our beautiful Bertie when he lost his six-month battle with lymphoma.
He was just six years old and it felt very cruel to be robbed of all the years we thought we would have with him. My heart shattered into a million pieces that day and he has left the most enormous hole in our lives.
Bertie was a one in a million dog. I know everyone says that, but if you knew him, you would know it was true. Funny, opinionated, affectionate, cheeky, intelligent, and sensitive, he was just amazing. He was larger than life and I suppose it makes sense that such a bright flame would simply burn out quicker.
I have been dreading this anniversary and, as its both lockdown and Lent, I felt doing something positive to mark his passing is the best way to cope with this grim marking of time and loss. As such, I will be giving up booze until East Sunday. If you would like to help galvanise me to avoid the temptation of wine o'clock and to honour Bert's memory, a donation towards FLOOF who gave us our gorgeous Tiger, would be so appreciated.
FLOOF is a small, dedicated Frenchie rescue run by a devoted group of volunteers which rescues and rehomes French Bulldogs. FLOOF is not only a safe and experienced pair of hands for people who want the best for their frenchie when they can no longer care for them but also take on dogs with chronic health problems either because the owners cannot afford it or because they have been used and abused for breeding. They have pulled dogs out of living hell and given them a second chance. Their vet’s bills reflect this as for 2020, they were a whopping £92,405.21.
If you can help me make tiny dent in that and help Bertie's memory live on by improving the lives of others, I would be very, very grateful. As will my liver. Thank you.
