Story
I have written a series of Ukulele instruction books to sell. All proceeds from the sales will go to Retina UK (printing costs will be my donation to the charity). I am Registered Blind with the inherited disease 'Retinitis Pigmentosa' which causes gradual loss of sight. My children have inherited this disease. Retina UK is a charity which implements and funds research projects towards finding cures and interventions as well as funding support programmes for affected families.
I am very active. I run races (with help from my wonderful guide runner friends) and clog dance with 2 dance teams around the country assisted by my brilliant guide dog, Mark.
Music is my other passion and while I have enough sight I enjoy creating opportunities for others to enjoy getting involved, either in their own homes or in groups.
My Ukulele books all have play along CD's which exactly follow the arrangements of the songs as they appear in the books. There are 5 progressive instructional books:-
- Ukulele Basics (2 and 3 chord songs)
- Ukulele Beginners (4 and 5 chord songs)
- Ukulele Progressors (5 to 10 chord songs)
- Ukulele Improvers (with slightly trickier bits or very easy instrumental bits and lastly:-
- Ukulele Intermediates (with interesting chord runs and/or mid song instrumentals - currently under revision. Available September '20).
All of these instructional books have
25, gender non-specific songs in singable keys and with interesting arrangements.
Other Books :-
- Strictly Ukulele 2017 (24 songs from the series featuring every couple, every dance genre and every week of the show - all gender non-specific)
- The Beatles (through the Albums) for Ukulele (25 Beatles song either 'ladyised' or gender non-specific)and lastly
- Christmas Ukulele (25 of my favourite Christmas songs nicely playable on Ukulele).
All the books are fully chorded so are also good for Guitar players.
If you play a chord instrument then please buy one or more of my books to support Retina UK. There is no quoted price - I just want a donation - though I think a minimum donation of £10 per book would be fair value for money. If you would like me to post you a book please contact me by email to arrange this (£2.50 extra to cover postage please) at till703@gmail.com.
