Story
Egglescliffe has a proud history or charitable giving understanding the responsibility that we have to raise awareness amongst our young people of the need within their local community and
beyond to global causes.
Cleveland Mountain Rescue are close to our hearts having recently assisted a member of our community on Roseberry Topping:
“Two double-crewed Team Land Rovers were deployed and a number of our members separately made their way to the scene where the casualty was being treated by a North East Ambulance Service paramedic for a suspected broken right ankle. We assisted with splinting then lifted the casualty onto a mountain rescue stretcher and wrapped them securely within a vacuum mattress. Team members then carried the casualty for approximately 700 metres around the
hillside and then uphill to our Land Rovers. They were then driven down to a waiting ambulance for onward transport to James Cook University Hospital.
Eighteen Team members attended, with the initial response being
co-ordinated by a Call-out Officer. The incident lasted just over two hours plus return travel and vehicle cleaning / decontamination time.”
This amazing group of volunteers rely on the generosity of individuals to cover the average costs of £42,000 required to run the team every year.
Egglescliffe School and 6th Form College would love to assist in fundraising to show our appreciation of the invaluable service that they offer, risking their own safety in order to keep others safe.
