ROAD TO 2021
Attempt 1) Paris Marathon 2018 - I arrived in Paris, with a day to go. I very quickly came down with a fever and became very dizzy. I had Gladular Fever and had to pull out of the race.
Attempt 2) London 2019 - I had to abandon running London 2019 due to recurring symptoms from the Gladular Fever. Then following constant ill health, I had my tonsils removed which resulted in me haemorrhaging four times and spending a month in hospital and about a year in recovery.
Attempt 3) As I started to recover and run again I was delighted to gear up for London 2020. However, as the series of unfortunate events continued a little thing called Covid-19 threw a spanner in the works.
Attempt 4) I'm determined that my fourth try is the charm. Here's hoping London 2021 is my year!
WHY I'M RUNNING
I want my mum's legacy to continue to push me and make me achieve new challenges, so here we are.
Even though Mum had been fighting cancer most of my life, Mum and Dad managed to give me and my sisters such a great childhood. Cancer and the resulting grueling treatment never stopped her from supporting and nurturing us.
Rowans Hospice gave my Mum dignity in the last weeks and hours of her life, allowing us to know that she wasn't in pain and to say goodbye in peace.
