Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On 2nd May I'm going to tackle my first 100 mile run in the Thames Path 100 footrace. This really is the biggest challenge I have ever faced. Running for 24 hours straight is an incredibly daunting prospect.
Last year I was overwhelmed by the support from all my friends and family when I raced over 100km. I felt so connected with the charity I fundraised for due to the family connection. The money I raised equated to more than 10% of their annual overhead costs.
So I'm proud to be fundraising for Hostage UK again this year.
Hostage UK, is small charity run by my sister, Rachel Briggs OBE. They provide practical and pastoral support to hostages and their families, both during and after a kidnap. They also educate and advise organisations with employees facing a kidnap risk.
We've seen first hand the need for a charity like this when our own uncle was kidnapped for 8 months in 1996 in Colombia. Recently, events in the news remind us of the tragic effect of kidnapping on hostages and their families. Hostage UK can't fix this but they help to make a terrible experience more bearable. They help families to cope and returning hostages to get back on their feet afterwards.
Your generosity is very much appreciated. It will certainly help me though this monumental challenge!!
