Story
East Bergholt and Brantham Mothers' Union members are raising funds to support families and communities here in Suffolk and across the world with Mothers' Union's Summer of Hope campaign!
Starting on August 1st we will complete our 100k challenge on August 9th, Mary Sumner Day (Birthday of the founder of Mothers' Union). With 20 members in our branch this target represents 5k per member.
Some of us will walk as a group and cover 5k in one day. Others will walk shorter distances by themselves, over several days. Some of our members will walk more than 5k to allow for those who are housebound or not so mobile.
The funds raised can support individuals and communities in many ways.
£10 can provide some craft materials for children in the Ipswich Women's refuge for the school holidays.
£27 can help someone in Ethiopia complete a two-year course to learn to read and write, providing them with a basic skill that completely changes their life.
£65 can start a credit and savings association in Rwanda allowing members to save collectively and provide each other with loans to buy household items, start businesses, care for others in the community and build a secure future for their families.
