Story

Thank you to everybody who has supported the team and donated to Finchale College. The group completed the run in 2.13.13, carrying 35lbs (15Kg) and finished about 20,000 out of 54,000 runners. The team were lucky enough to visit the college, meet its directors, and see first hand the outstanding work they are doing to helping former soldiers find and retain full time employment.

On the 18th September 2011 members of 2RTR's EGYPT squadron will run The Great North Run booted and carrying 35Ibs to raise money for Finchale College.

Finchale College was established as a rehabilitation centre for disabled ex-servicemen. It now provides support for wounded soldiers helping them find and retain employment of more than 16 hrs per week. The trainees come from all parts of England, Scotland and Wales because local provision does not meet their particular needs.

They run, on average, 120 trainees on programmes at any one time and design customised Individual Employment Plans that will ensure that all the barriers to employment experienced by a trainee are addressed. Literacy, Numeracy and IT skills are a fundamental part of vocational training, as are counselling health, dyslexia and communication support.

So please dig deep and donate now.
