We empower the most marginalised people to achieve lasting, positive change.

Story

Having spent the past three years studying for a degree in History and Politics in the safe and comfortable environment of the University of Sussex  I feel that now is a good time to make a positive contribution by helping others less fortunate than myself.  I am particularly drawn to the subject of human rights,  as  I believe these are fundamental to strengthening the development of countries and empowering their people.

On examining a range of voluntary programs and internships one that particularly caught my eye was with the charity International Citizens Service (ICS).  They have offered me the opportunity to spend three months in Ghana, a developing country afflicted by high levels of poverty.  Local charities there are working to improve opportunities for women, disabled people and children, and I will be volunteering with one of them from April 2016.

I was thrilled to pass their interview this week, and my first challenge is to raise £1,500 for ICS. I will be organising a variety of fund-raising projects over the coming weeks. If you wish to contribute any donations would be gratefully accepted.

Thank-you.
