Story
Please join us for a healthy walk/bike/run ( with sunscreen) bring the dog and help raise money for the Melanoma Research Foundation in honor of Ken Fagan who passed away two years ago. We will be meeting Sunday March 20th at 9am Lake Merced car park.
Kens story is a little scary as he was first diagnosed with melanoma in a small mole on his back. After excision of the melanoma and biopsy he was given the all clear with 6 monthly skin checks by dermatologist. In November of 2019 however Ken experienced feeling unwell and became a little confused. When I took him to the ER he was scanned. They found innumerable brain tumors as well as multiple Mets around his internal organs. Despite the hope that immunotherapy has brought many in melanoma, this treatment along with brain surgery, stereotactic radiation, whole brain radiation and the best of medical and nursing care was not enough to save Ken.
If love and support could heal a person Ken would be with us today. Thank you for all the love.
Many have asked “How are you doing?” Or “What can I do to help?” My answer is help us to prevent this to be another persons story. Help us raise money for research to find better detection and better treatment.
Hopefully we will see you there 9am Sunday March 20th Lake Merced. And if you can’t make lake Merced from Ireland or wherever you are please take a walk for Ken and donate to this site. Thank you 💕
