Story
As a rural village Primary, the Duke of Bedford School currently caters for 210 pupils ranging from 5 years to 11 years of age, along with its associated pre-school which has a further 32 children.
At the start of this year, upon its annual inspection and service, our current outdoor, heated swimming pool was assessed as beyond repair.
During its 50 year existence at the School, this pool has seen approximately 2,000 students/residents of the village learn to swim and provided in excess of 80 class sessions of this vital activity each year. Due to the distance from our nearest community pool, having our own pool has proven to be invaluable in; teaching an important skill to all students, including those that otherwise would not have had access or means to swimming lessons, provided a superb form of exercise to increase our pupils physical fitness and has acted as a source of mental wellbeing in boosting children's confidence around water.
