Story
In late 2021 my Mum, a then fit and healthy 69-year old lady contracted IPF as a rare side-effect from medication. Its a terminal lung disease and as such myself and my family are helpless to do anything but watch as the disease progresses. IPF affects around 1 in 2000 people but is still a fringe disease and as such research and development of treatments is slow. There is no cure and my Mum will die of the disease. It's heartbreaking and so I'm doing all I know how to do, I'm helping others by raising money, by using my lungs, and encouraging other people to use theirs. Alongside a series of personal challenges, I've arranged a 10-stop 'Bike for breath' charity tour around the UK where participants can join a day of gorgeous indoor cycling experiences on great bikes, delivered by the best in the business, and sponsored by Intelligent Cycling software. It'll be an awesome challenge. The aim is to raise £10,000 in 2023 and help researchers and support staff to improve the lives of those living with IPF.
