Story
Our Dad spent 12 days in ICU before we had to make the heartbreaking decision to withdraw support. In that time we were constantly in awe of the incredible work carried out by the doctors and nurses on the ward. They worked around the clock to help Dad, trying everything they possibly could. The wonderful nurses chatted to Dad, asked to see photos of him, and took gentle care of him, even moisturising his feet and brushing his teeth. They even remembered his time in ICU the year before (maybe due to his good looks and great jokes, maybe because of that memorable surname…)
Not only that, they took care of us too. Nothing was too much trouble, the nurses provided updates and explanations whenever we needed them, usually while administering medicines or taking Dad’s stats at the same time. They brought us tea and hugged us tight whenever we needed. Their support meant the world to us at an incredibly difficult time, and we were so comforted by knowing Dad was in such good and caring hands.
