Story

As lockdown became a reality for eveyone across the globe, we all found our daily lives impacted.  Having just come back from an extended trip to Australia and NZ, we were barely back into the UK swing before everything ground to a halt here.  Personally, I was on to working part time, and home schooling(ish) my children for the rest of the school year.

Amongst this I  managed to reconnect (virtually) with Dr Matt Dun - who was (briefly) a shipmate of mine in submarines.  He has gone on to do amazing things since then - touched by deep personal tragedy along the way.  RUN DIPG is a charity he and a team of others have set up to help find a cure for a particular, terrible form of childhood cancer.  His resilience and focus remind me that we have one life to live and we must do the most with it that we can.  I am raising funds for RUN DIPG - but not being a runner I need to think a bit more outside the 'lines' for ideas.

Amongst the upheavel and busy days - like everyone else -  I was unable to visit a barber. When it came time for my first DIY haircut, I just did the front bit - being as that's all you can see on Zoom anyway. After that things just got away from me...... Now we have become close - and my new friend is both a source of wonder and dread for those around me.  It's been an amazing 7 months together - but as the saying goes "if you love something, set it free...."

So, please make a donation to this very worthwhile cause. Both RUN DIPG, and also for the sanity of my children who insist on me wearing a beanie or bike helmet at all times when anywhere near their school.
