Story
At 26 weeks gestation our twin boys were born at Spectrum Health Big Rapids and sent to Helen DeVos Children's Hospital for their care. They had a 5 month NICU stay where we had a super team of doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists, child life... our list of amazing people can go on forever. We are so lucky that our children's hospital is so close to home and provided such amazing care.
During our journey after discharge from the NICU, we've worked with multiple specialties and navigated a complex medical life for the boys. We are lucky enough to also work with the Secchia CarePartners office to coordinate our appointments as well, which has been a huge assistance.
Our most recent journey was in the summer of 2018 with the Intensive Feeding Program. The boys learned to feed themselves and eat orally with this 8 week program with three structured therapy/meal sessions each day. The boys made progress so quickly. We couldn't believe it! We weaned their feeding tubes and finally removed those in spring 2020.
Please help us give back to the place that gave us our beautiful children, supported them to grow healthy, and reach milestones that aren't always seen with kiddos born so young. They have grown into two crazy kindergarteners now and we are so appreciative of the programs at Helen DeVos Children's Hospital.
