Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my Justgiving page.

My NEW-DIVA Fund was first created in 2008 after I was fortunate enough to gain a ballot place in the 2009 Flora London Marathon. It was created in association with my local Newark Victim Support, hence "Newark - Diane's Victim Aid Fund" to raise money for victims of crime within the designated Newark & Sherwood area.

With the support of family, friends, NOTFAST running club and work colleagues I raised £4,473 which was absolutely fantastic. And, here I am again running and raising money in 2012 J

Here’s how the money was spent:

Three evidence gathering CCTV systems; one for a male domestic violence victim, one for a targeted female receiving constant abuse and one for a family suffering relentless anti-social behaviour. Plus, 50 personal attack alarms, 100 purse bells (fitted to old ladies purses so that they cannot be easily removed from pockets or bags without being heard) and 100 segment timers for burglary victims.

So, what a difference we made to hundreds of lives!

Becoming a victim of crime is never a pleasant experience for anyone, especially if the victim is of low means, vulnerable or at risk from becoming a repeat victim.

The majority of crime that happens within my area is burglary, purse/handbag thefts, bogus callers and common assault. There are more serious incidents of robbery and sexual violence, but fortunately these are fewer in number.

With the aid of practical items such as personal attack alarms, burglar alarms, keypad locks, handbag alarms, we can easily prevent crime happening again to the same person, and any money raised will help purchase these small, but very effective items. Some crimes are more complex requiring more expensive practical support such as high levels of security equipment ... the list is endless. This is where the NEW-DIVA Fund can help!

These very costly dilemmas are the same if anyone is fleeing the home through domestic abuse, or serious harm. Any practical help can have a beneficial aim to aid the quality of life for victims of crime in the Newark & Sherwood area. It does not resolve the problems, but it can make a difference.

PLEASE give generously as it could easily be you, a family member/friend or me asking for support. This is a worthy cause and often unheard of until you become a victim of crime. Many volunteers and staff offer their time willingly and this fund will again help provide the necessary items for the victims they are tirelessly helping.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. Your details are safe and they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Victim Support gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving will make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.

So please sponsor me and thank you SO much for your support.
