COMMEMORATING AN ARTISTIC TALENT: When Diana unexpectedly went into hospital in November 2019 – never to return home – she left more than 100 completed pictures either in her studio or out in galleries and exhibitions. Following her death in January some favourite works have stayed with the family, but all the rest remain. Diana would not have wanted them gathering dust in a cupboard, so this sale is not only a means of raising much-needed money for a charity but of displaying and commemorating her burgeoning talent as an artist, particularly in her later years.
WHY THE PITUITARY FOUNDATION? Diana spent the last seven weeks of her life in endocrinology wards, and the care she received both at West Suffolk Hospital and later at Addenbrooke's Hospital made us appreciate just how complex the work undertaken by endocrinology specialists is. Patients rarely die directly of endocrinological causes, but those disorders are frequently and crucially contributory to the ultimate cause of mortality. Such was the case with Diana .....
By comparison with major medical support charities The Pituitary Foundation – although the largest in the field of endocrinology in the UK – is minuscule in terms of resources and funding.
