Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
On 22nd February, at 22 weeks pregnant, my waters broke. It was the most terrifying and uncertain time of our lives. We were initially told to expect the worst for our little boy and that the hospital we were in would not resuscitate a baby born at that gestation. All we knew was that Dexter was still kicking. And something in our guts was telling us he wasn't ready for the world yet.
We were transferred to Queen Charlotte's Hospital, with level 3 neonatal care. From the moment we were admitted, to the moment we left without our baby, we received the most incredible care from all the midwives and doctors.
Dexter was a fighter until the very end. He didn't want to leave his mummy's tummy but because of possible infection, we made the decision to induce him. He made it to 24 weeks and 1 day but sadly didn't survive childbirth. We want to do whatever we can to raise money for the wonderful people at the neonatal intensive care unit at Queen Charlotte's and to help fund research into preterm babies - anything we can do to reduce the amount of people that have to go through this excruciating heartbreak. If you were ever planning to buy Dexter a present, please can you donate the amount that this might have been. Please give whatever you can. Every penny will help.
