Story

Run 4 marathons on 4 consecutive Sundays in October.

GRAND TOTAL = 102.6 Miles.

    Sunday 3rd October.  – Completed.  4h 53.  Full distance
Sunday 10th October.  Leicester Marathon - Complete. 5h 33.  Full distance
Sunday 17th October.  Greensands Marathon, Dorking - Completed. Full distance
Sunday 24th October.  Bupa Great South Run.  Complete (10miles, plus only 14 before the main event).  4h 15

Sunday 31th October.  My birthday weekend.  Something easier:  The Kingfisher Challenge at Juhu.

Ps.  Who wants to join me in December for the Barbados Marathon?

I will fund all expenses (travel and entrance fees).  I have not used any “charity” places at any event and do not have any sponsorship targets. All money donated will go direct to charity the you choose.

I know donation can be difficult with so many people doing the same thing.  However, if you:

JustFor1Day, drink ONE less cup of tea/coffee and donate the cost of that one drink to a charity.

... and put a few pence into a charity collection box.  It all helps.

I am also raising funds for:

The Experience – My FIRST ever marathon.  Yes, round the legendary racing circuit.  Start/Finish on the home straight in front of the grand stands.  The pit lane and racing car bays were converted into medical units, support teams and post race refreshment.  I must admit, I had to slow down for some the bends and keep my racing line.

Every marathon runner will tell you at some point during the 26 miles, they doubt reaching the finish line.  I am no exception.  There were plenty of occasions when Elvis, Michael Buble or the Prodigy could not keep me going!  We all have a source for motivation.  At the low points, thinking about the beautiful people close to me who have been struck by a life changing condition gave me the strength to carry on through the pain.  You know who you are. x

Leicester Marathon:  Hot day.  Tough race.

Greensands Dorking Completed.

26.2 miles.  Cross country: over hills, dirt tracks, sand, rocks, hills, tree roots and pain.  Not sure who is more insane, the man who thought up the race or me for trying it.  However, I have now achieved a PB – Reached a new pain threshold.

Great South Run, .  Completed. 24 miles (sorry).  4h 15

I had planned on running 16.2 miles to make the event a full marathon, but, as I arrived in later than anticipated, I simply ran out time.  At 1030, I was forced to stop the pre-race section in order to take my place on the starting grid, which, I managed with just 4 minutes to spare.
