Story

Derek Parker sadly passed away on 5th May 2022 following a short illness.  Derek suffered with Dementia from 2017 but mercifully the condition only developed slowly and until recently Derek enjoyed a full life.

Derek enjoyed the care and companionship that was provided by Crossroads Surrey through a remarkable woman called Ilona.  Ilona was a regular visitor and often took Derek out for coffee or to a local beauty spot to enjoy the view.  He loved talking about his family and interests and greatly appreciated the time that Ilona spent with him.  Jean, Derek's wife of 57 years took an increasing role in caring for him in the last few years.  The support that Crossroads Surrey provided gave her some time to herself which was invaluable.

Jean and sons James and Michael are very grateful for the care provided by Ilona and hope that funds raised in memory of Derek will help support others.
