When I was young, my parents taught me that giving up your seat for someone in need was the right thing to do. I don't think they meant for me to be strapped to the top wing of a biplane instead of using a perfectly good spare seat, but they didn't tell me not to...
In April '21 I saw a news item about many charities struggling for funds as a result of three Covid-19 lockdowns and I thought it would be good to do something challenging for a smaller, local charity. For some reason, wingwalking came to mind and when I did an internet search, probably along the lines of 'wingwalking near me', an ad came up for Jessie May joining forces with AeroSuperBatics to boost funds. I headed to the Jessie May website (www.jessiemay.org.uk) and I haven't been able to get it out of my mind since.
Jessie May is a charity that provides specialist nursing care for terminally ill children in their own homes. They offer vital respite care and emotional support for these children's families, as well as end of life care and bereavement support, allowing families to make the most of their precious time together and creating treasured family memories.
Please help me raise as much money as possible to support this incredible charity. If you are not able to help financially at this time, prayers for good weather and clean pants would also be very much appreciated! The cost of the flight has been funded by me and also with the help of generous birthday gifts from my lovely parents and mother-in-law, so everything raised will be for the charity.
PS: Please note that due to health and safety requirements, if the weather forecast is not suitable on the day, the flight will be postponed - but I WILL do it!
