Story
Hi everyone.
Not only did I lose a very close friend of mine to breast cancer, my mum & myself had breast health scares last year. The gut wrenching feeling in the pit of your stomach can't be explained enough to make people understand how it effects you & your outlook. Those of you who have been through it will know what I'm talking about.
It was an agonising 2/3 weeks of waiting for appointments, not wanting to touch yourself in that area because if you ignore it, its not really there. Looking at my children and not knowing how long you have with them, fearing the worst is going to to happen.
The positive thoughts of my friend who won her fight slowly faded away as i remember watching my friend lose her battle, my sisters friend lost her battle, my mums neighbour lost her battle. While you're in limbo, the not knowing, negativity takes over, you can't help it.
Then, the best feeling in the world, that heavy weight of fear lifted. We were very lucky to find out we were ok. But I couldn't smile leaving the breast clinic, looking around the full waiting room of scared women.
That is why we have chosen to do this.
My friends that know me, know my body is ridiculous and lets me down when I take on physical challenges so I decided I'd shave my head to raise some money instead.
My mum said she would like to join me and my daughter Maisy who is 9 said she wanted to join me too. So there we have it, 3 generations of head shaves.
Please please donate to this, its so very important that we help. Even if its just a spare quid, please, every penny counts.
Its not energetic, nor challenging but it is brave all the same.
My lovely hairdresser Liam of Toni and Guy leamington Spa will be shaving our heads on the 18/10/14
Please spread the word and DONATE :O)
