Anthony Michael Grieves
03/12/1947 - 09/04/2021
Our beloved husband, father, grandad, brother, uncle and friend to everyone he met - Tony passed away suddenly on 9th April 2021.
We will always be very grateful for all the help and dedication shown to Tony by first the paramedics and then the staff in the Emergency Department and then the Critical Care Unit at the Lister Hospital.
Then in a moment of great darkness, whilst we were trying to make some sense of what had happened the staff at the Eastern Organ Donation Services Team stepped in. We all knew that Tony had signed up to be an organ donor, he had spent his life always helping others and this moment would be no different. However the specialist nurses from this team were truly amazing and the care and compassion they showed every member of our family will stay with us always. It was at this point our specialist nurse Katie asked if she could gift us a couple of memory boxes. Inside these boxes were tribute candles, special christmas decorations, books, wild flowers seeds to sow in memory of Tony, teddy bears, a set of crocheted hearts (the largest of which is still with Tony), they took palm prints for us and thumb prints which they put into keyrings.
These boxes were donated from
madeamarkcharity.com and were designed to bring comfort to Tony's bereaved grandchildren. However, every single member of our family has been touched and gained comfort from these boxes and the gifts inside.
It was at this moment that we were reminded of our beloved husband/ Dad / Grandad, who throughout his life whether it be as a family member, friend, work colleague or priest had always brought comfort, happiness and joy to people, He always knew exactly what to say in each situation, even in times of sorrow he always had the right words of comfort and we knew he would have loved these boxes. It is for this reason that we have asked for any donations to be made to this amazing charity in his memory. So that even in his death he can continue what he did in life.... bring a smile to someone who needs it.
With love, The Grieves family xxxx
