Story
Thank you for reading about my recycled handmade charity candle sale and looking in my gallery which shows some of my efforts to date from donated raw materials to finished product! One hundred percent of your money will go to supporting my chosen charity, The Wallich. This is a charity which supports homeless people. They operate under three core objectives: getting people off the streets; keeping people off the streets; and creating opportunities for people. They believe that everyone deserves the right to a home, but more than that, that everyone deserves the right to feel safe, to feel valued and to feel positive about their future. Please support me today and ensure The Wallich continues to offer a lifeline to people sleeping rough, helping them to take their first step out of homelessness.
I started my candle recycling hobby during lockdown in 2020 after a clear out of the candles amassed in our home over many years. There’s something about a candle that has not burned well or has come to look dirty or dusty which makes them unusable, but people are nevertheless reluctant to throw them away! It's often only once after the bag containing them has been moved a hundred times and been fallen over twice that eventually they are thrown out. It is on the basis of this that I’ve managed to tap into a resource which ultimately would otherwise likely end in landfill! I have been making candles from recycled candle wax and containers for charity contributions since then.
Advertising through local social media I have been fortunate to attract very generous donations of the main materials required, and have happily supplemented this with new wicks, attractive scents and colouring dyes as part of my hobby, as well as hours of learning, winning and sometimes failing in my endeavours. In the majority of cases the failures enable reuse of the materials in a second attempt.
As with any candle, there are safety and burning guidelines as to their use, these are supplied with the purchases. I want to add that as these are made from recycled materials they will not always have the “shop bought" labelling or wrapping but nevertheless will function as good as those purchased from retailers
Should you purchase a candle or candles from me please enjoy using the candle safely, and realise that your financial contribution has gone entirely to support the work of this tremendous charity supporting people in our own locality.
