Whilst many will hopefully enjoying some late summer sunshine, I will be walking 100km from London to Henley-On-Thames. I'm hoping to complete this challenge in about 27 hours, walking through the night, only stopping to eat. Why you might ask? Because I want to challenge myself and hopefully raise some much needed funds for a great cause.
As a lot you already know I completed one of the biggest challenges of my life two years ago (2016) Walking 100KM from London 2 Cambridge. I completed this in 25:26 minutes.
Within 10 minutes I said I would never do anything like that again. Within 24 hours I was already showing interest in the L2B and/or the Thames Valley Path (both 100km). Guess what? I STILL WANT TO DO ANOTHER!
Last year, 2017 I attempted my second challenge London 2 Brighton, another 100 KM, again raising just under £3000 for CRUK. Sadly on doctors advice, I had to retire, showing how tough these challenges are. BUT YOU CANT KEEP A GOOD MAN DOWN!
This year i'm doing it all again but along the banks of the iconic river Thames. Starting at Putney Bridge, walking on towpaths and bridleways heading westbound towards places like Eton, Kew Gardens, Hampton Court, and walking under Windsor Castle.I'll finally end up in Henley-On-Thames.
I will be raising money for MIND so if you missed out last time or you would like to donate again please do.
This is going to be close to my heart being diagnosed with depression almost 5 years ago.
My journey started from the moment I signed up - training & commitment for this Ultra Challenge is an achievable goal for anyone who really wants to push themselves in 2018.
