Fundraising for Ruth's Place
When a relationship breaks down, the involvement of both parents in the life of the children is what Family Courts presume will be in their best interests.
Ruth's Place provides an environment where non-resident parents (or other relatives) and their children can meet, play and interact together. The Centre is a neutral location for the handover of a child to the other parent and offers counselling to children. The Centre has continued to offer this safe place even during the difficult times of the pandemic.
My hair grew so long and shaggy while the barbers were shut due to Covid and I didn't just want to get it cut because I thought it would be so much better instead to raise some money for a charity that has some meaning for me by having a full head shave. So........
• Keep the register, which records attendance and times of arrival and departure;
• Set out the toys & equipment;
• Complete the ‘hand-over’ of a child from one parent to the other if they don’t want to meet;
• Help make the most of the first meeting between child and parent;
• Run the snack bar;
• Help with organising the centre behind the scenes with things like administration and fund-raising.
