Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As you know I was nearly killed in a cycling accident on 19 Jan 2016 whilst cycling home from the university. I suffered a broken shoulder, 7 broken ribs, a shattered pelvis and cracked vertebrae, but luckily no head or internal injuries (thanks to my helmet which saved me). I was rushed to Kings College Hospital in the early hours of the morning and had my first operation later that day. A week later I had a bigger operation on my pelvis. Thanks to the excellent care I received I survived. Patients have 40% greater chance of survival at Kings, so I was lucky to be transferred there, otherwise I might not be fundraising for them today.
Whilst I could not walk for 3 months as a result of my extensive injuries, I happy to say that I can now walk unaided, albeit with a small limp, so I was fit enough to take part in the sponsored abseil down the Jubilee tower block at the hospital. This was a great target to aim for in February when I was still bed ridden, both physically and financially, since all the sponsorship money I raise will go towards the fantastic care that Kings gives to its patients. Goodness knows, our NHS needs all the help it can get due to this government!
