Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Here at Datchet Watersports we are aiming to continue our success of the last two year’s event at the Queen Mother Reservoir..... As Centre Principal I am organising with my Chief Instructor Dougal Harris and taking part along with our Datchet Watersports staff team, platinum club members and other regular windsurfers in a team effort to windsurf from Sunrise to Sunset on Sunday 6 May 2012 as part of the national W4CR event.
Last year we raised in excess of £3,000!! We want to beat that this year so please sponsor our team of windsurfers! Last year we managed to keep at least eight people on the water at all times, that’s from 5.30am till 8.30pm - about 15 hours!!! Some of the very dedicated team members were on the water for over 10 hours! We had over 60 different people out on the water last year over the course of the day! Most of the team will be setting themselves personal goals such as sailing for as long as they can, completing a set number of certain windsurfing manoeuvres, sailing as far or as fast as they can measured by GPS, wearing fancy dress.... anything they can do really!
Personally I am aiming to sail from 05:30 – 09:30 when we start work and then working through till 18:00 where I will then sail till the finish at 20:30!! With a couple of shifts during the day if we are short of numbers I imagine this will mean at least 8 hours (a normal days work!) out on the water so please give generously!
As you probably know it is a very saddening fact that the majority of people reading this will have had either personal experience of the horrors of cancer or had friends or relatives who've been affected. So, please do donate to this very worthwhile cause. If you are in the area, come along and support us. The centre has great catering and bar facilities and it should be a fantastic day of action on the water.
