Story
Thanks for visiting my page!
If you know me at all, you'll know that I am not an athlete. I'm not a fit person, I never really have been. I was in bottom-set PE and always picked last for teams. I'm sure if I still played team sports, that would still be the case.
But in November of last year, I decided to stop taking my health for granted and started to run regularly. I couldn't run for more than 3 minutes without needing to stop, at the time; and I'd never in my life been able to run for more than 5 minutes. My training over the last 2-3 months has changed all this, and I'm starting to actually enjoy running - something I never thought I'd say. On the 18th January, I ran for 30 minutes straight for the first time ever.
I know 5k is still the tiniest distance to a lot of people - I can appreciate that (and I have a newfound respect for marathon runners and triathletes and other distance runners). But, for me, this is huge. And I wanted to turn this from a personal achievement into a charitable effort. So I'd really appreciate any donations that you can make - it all goes straight to the charity, which I'm sure you'll agree, is a fantastic cause.
I'm still training, of course. I technically have competed in a 5k before (I did Race for Life in 2011 by run/walking), but I've never actually run one fully. I want a good solid time for my first ever one, so I'm gonna pick up the pace of training. I can't wait to do it - I'll see you on the other side!
