With great sadness Danny Craig our beloved Dad, Grandad, Brother, Uncle & Friend to many lost his harrowing 6 week battle to Covid-19 at Queen Alexandra Hospital Portsmouth on Friday 3rd September 2021. 

The team at QA Hospital in the intensive care unit (ICU) ward E5 were outstanding throughout. They worked tirelessly to help Danny, anticipating all the obstacles that were to challenge his recovery and to help Danny’s fight against Covid-19. They also gave us as a family support and reassurance through this very difficult time. In our eyes they have become our heroes. 

This is why we ask instead of flowers at the funeral, if you would like to make a small donation to this charity as we are forever grateful to the team that took care of Danny. 

We are hoping that any collections could contribute to new equipment for the patients & staff. One of the main challenges we faced as a family was being cut off from Danny, we like to think we can help other families stay connected with their loved ones through devices such as tablets or iPads to be able to FaceTime or to play a patient’s favourite music, this will help with their mental well-being and to lift their spirts especially when visits are not permitted. This aspect was by far the hardest to accept and endure.  

We found that other equipment (DVD players / CD players / Headphones & Speakers) were dated & this made it hard to address Danny’s mental well-being or to communicate with him effectively. We really would love to be able to help and to show some appreciation of how thankful we really are and to improve other families experiences at such an incredibly hard time.

Danny’s Funeral Arrangements 

The ceremony will take place on:- 

Wednesday 22nd September 2021 at 11:15 at Portchester Crematorium, Upper Cornaway Lane, Fareham, PO16 8NE 

The wake will then take place after the ceremony at:-

The Dockyard Club, Onslow Road, Southsea, PO5 2NH

We kindly ask anyone wishing to attend the funeral or wake that you take a lateral flow test before attending. We want to ensure that everybody remains safe 💙
