Story
Thank you very much for visiting my fundraising page.I am very proud to be participating in this year's Little Black Dress Initiative (LBDI) COVID-19 Appeal. .100% of the funds raised this year will go to our partner organizations fighting poverty and on the front lines during this pandemic.
I will be wearing black for 4 consecutive days to raise awareness about poverty and its effects on women in London especially during this trying time. Please support me and the work of the Junior League of London by donating. Since we were in lock-down this year for my 40th birthday consider donating the drinks you would have had with me.
Why I participate. My mom. Deryl was a long time member of the Junior League. Year after year we created Christmas Decorations for the Christmas Tree Festival to support some great causes in Fairfield, CT. Mom continues to inspire me and taught me the value of giving to those who have less. Help me continue Deryl's legacy of caring for the most vulnerable in our society to create lasting change in our world and equality for women.
Why the Little Black Dress Initiative is Important? The stats are troubling; 55% of all low-paying jobs in London are held by women. Women are some of the most affected by COVID-19, they make up 70% of critical jobs and are continuing to work. Poverty limits resources, options for housing, childcare and employment - making it harder to cope during the pandemic. The affects will be long lasting even after the lock-down is over.
About the Junior League of London: Each year, JLL members donate 20,000 hours of volunteer service in the London community, focusing particularly on poverty and its effects. Our volunteers work with various community partners who provide education and employment support for those in need. Like food banks, shelters for abused women and clothing to get women and men back to work.
