Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On May 19th I will be taking the biggest challenge of my life. After being over 100kg back in 2014 I had bariatric surgery and I lost some 30kg. Running has since developed into a passion and I have decided to celebrate by 51st birthday by doing a 52k ultra marathon. This was meant to have happened for my 50th birthday in 2023, but a hip stress fracture derailed everything and meant I could not run at all – or do anything except for slow cycling at the gym – for almost 6 months.
The longest I have ever ran in one go is 30km and I am expecting the 52km to take me between 6 and 7 hours.
My daughter is a year 8 Latymer student and the opportunity to help fundraise for the Latymer Foundation has presented itself while giving me additional motivation to train hard.
I am back training with my coach and each week brings me closer to race day.
