Story
Hi! My name is Dan and I am 21years old. I have a older brother and sister at the age of 23 and 25. My brother was diagnosed with severe autism at the age of 2 and had a hard time making friends and socialising in general. Whilst growing up he was not able to string a sentence together or make eye contact so him trying to explain his feelings to someone or ask for a simple gesture was hard for him and often lashed out in frustration.
By the age of 17 he was over 6 foot tall and weighed over 190pounds so it became very hard to support and control him if he’d suddenly lash out. After reaching out for advice we came to the conclusion it would be best for him to move into residential care so he could get all the support and facilities he needed.
He has been living in residential care For the last 6 years now, surrounded by a great team of carers. Since moving into care he has lost over 2stone and looks healthier than ever before! We have not been able to see him for the past 10 weeks due to the virus but we have recently been allowed to visit him at social distance. The team of carers has been working through this whole coronavirus pandemic looking after my brother and making sure he is safe.
Hft and my brothers carers have made it possible to supply great facilities for him and to keep him fit and healthy as all Lesuire and entertainment places have temporarily closed.
I would like to pay my respects to these hard working people and show how grateful I really am by going clean shaven and donate all the money to hft so they can help provide facilities and advice to families across the country who are currently struggling with a learning disability or have a family member in the same boat as my brother.
So in conclusion, on the 11th of July I will be clean shaving my head in efforts to raise money for hft who is a charity who help people with learning disabilities and offer great support.
Any donations will be really appreciated 🙋♂️
