Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As most of you know, Sophie has been interning at the Cheetah Conservation Fund (CCF) in Namibia, Africa for the past year. During this time I have learned quite a bit about the threats to the cheetah's extinction and the extensive efforts that CCF is making to combat these threats.
CCF is the international leader in cheetah conservation and education, and unfortunately, as a result of the restrictions related to COVID-19 has lost about two-thirds of its operating revenue (tourism and international fundraising tours) this year. It's for this reason that I'm asking you to consider making a donation, of any amount, to CCF.
Less than 8,000 cheetahs remain in the wild today with a projected decline of over 50% over the next 15 years. CCF's conservation work entails addressing the human-wildlife conflict through its innovative program of breeding and placing livestock guard dogs (Anatolian Shepherds) with farmers throughout Namibia (the threat to livestock, and farmers killing the cheetah being one of the main reasons for their decline). CCF also rescues and rehabilitates cheetahs that have been caught in traps or otherwise injured. Many are then able to be released back into the wild. Additionally, CCF has a program in Somaliland where they actively confiscate cheetah cubs from the illegal pet trade - a risky but oh so important part of what they do.
So that's my spiel. I'm not doing a fundraising walk, run, or ride - I'm just simply asking for a donation of any amount to help a very worthy cause and one that has become dear to my heart.
