Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Our story with SSNAP has been well documented.  Our daughter Olivia had a difficult birth and start in life.  Despite being told that she wouldn't survive or would need round the clock care, she has made an almost full recovery with mild cerebral palsy.  Olivia is now almost 4, has started school and is an incredible joy.  We are incredibly lucky!

The support that SSNAP and the Neo Natal unit at the John Ratcliff Hospital gave us was invaluable.  Having had the honour of joining the Board of trustees, I have been privileged to see first hand the work that the Charity does to support every element of the unit and the families that are on it.

It's a small charity and so any donations make a huge difference.  We have been able to extend the reach of SSNAP by launching Little SSNAPlings, a group for any family that has been on the unit that allows a safe space for children and parents who may have additional needs.  This project has been very personal to me and my family and I hope that money raised by this 3 peaks event can not only continue to support those on the unit, but expand the reach to those families after they have been discharged.

I am also doing this in memory of my Dad Mike Kimpton who passed away in 2022.  He was a huge supporter of SSNAP and would think I'm an idiot  for doing this!

In the UK, 1 in 10 babies need specialist care at birth. SSNAP supports sick & premature babies and their families in the Newborn Care Unit at the John Radcliffe Hospital. Imagine your newborn baby needing specialist care at birth. Instead of those very special days getting to know your baby as a family, you’re catapulted into an unfamiliar world of incubators, wires, medical tests and interventions. While your baby has specialist treatment, we provide emotional and practical support to help you through the trauma & upheaval. We’re there to help families cope, and provide state-of-the-art medical equipment and nursing expertise that could save babies lives.
