Story
The cost of living crisis is really hurting those on lower
incomes and it’s going to get worse as the year progresses.
The effect will especially painfully felt on families with
children where parents and guardians are already having to make exceptionally difficult life choices through no fault of their own in terms of basic human requirements like food, heating and housing.
Because of this my pal Elliott Sargent and I have decided to undertake a fundraiser for a local charity that is working hard to combat the cost of living crisis for the most in need families in their area.
As such, on the 9th August we will be undertaking a supreme challenge of playing 4 rounds of golf in one day at Coombe Hill Golf Club in Kingston.
The clue to the size of the challenge is in the name hill
and by the time we have finished we will have walked the equivalent of a marathon with an elevation change similar to walking up and down the Eiffel Tower - twice!
Those who know me will be aware that I am normally ready for a pint and long sit down after just 1 round so 4 in 1 day will certainly be an interesting challenge!
The Dons Action Group is an amazing organisation focusing on providing families and children in need with food parcels, essential household items, furniture and appliances as well as laptops for children who do not have access to online learning facilities in Merton, Kingston and Wandsworth boroughs.
We will keep you updated on how our training (playing even more golf than usual!) is going and ask you all to please dig deep and donate generously (link below) to this wonderful cause that really is making a positive impact to those in need in the local community.
Many thanks and wish us luck
Ben and Elliott
