This is a very important charity to one DNA colleague, DYRK1A (pronounced DERK-1-A) – UK. DYRK1A are a charity who support those living with this rare genetic condition and their families. 

Each year the charity arrange a meet up connecting families with professionals to better understand the condition and other families in the same situation so they don’t feel quite so alone. 

There are only 500 known families worldwide and about 65 families in the UK with this condition. DYRK1A was only identified in 2008 so it is relatively new in terms of knowing and understanding the impact. All funds raised will help DYRK1A – UK continue to provide great services and support for the families and those impacted by the condition.
