Story
Our father, Don Halliday, died in June 2021, aged 92, after a brief illness. He joined GWR in the 1940s as a draughtsman, and trained to become a civil engineer in the early 1950s. By the 1960s he was involved in the project to rebuild Birmingham New Street station. He worked on the railways until he retired in 1984. He remained a member of the Institute of Civil Engineers for the rest of his life (No. 47754749). The photo shows him (left, in a sharp hat) on the roof of the old Curzon St station in Birmingham before it was demolished in 1966.
We have chosen the ICE Benevolent Fund for any donations as they support civil engineers at every stage of their career.
