Story

Recent flooding in Lokoja, Kogi State in Nigeria has displaced up to 600,000 people.

The floods have led to the displacement of thousands of families, destroyed businesses, farmlands, crops, schools, hospitals, and homes. Many Towns are completely submerged by the waters.

Lokoja is the confluence of the River Niger and River Benue, the two biggest rivers in Nigeria. As the two major rivers meet in Lokoja, they overwhelmed the banks of the Lower Niger river.

Lokoja has one of the highest numbers of children living with Sickle Cell. Sickle Cell is a life threatening and long term genetic blood condition. Major triggers for Sickle Cell Crisis are cold temperatures, water infections, stress amongst many other factors.

We are working with a Sickle Cell Charity on the ground in Lokoja to provide relief to these children and families.

The immediate need is food supplies, mosquito nets, malaria drugs, water supply, clothes (many have lost all of their clothes in the flood water).

Please donate anything you can to help these children make it through the next few weeks.
