Story

‘I’m heartbroken to share that on 27th April at 0205 our little girl Everley Louisa Christine Josey was born sleeping. I was 21 weeks and 1 day pregnant. As a family we are completely heartbroken and will remember and celebrate Everley for the rest of our lives. Everyday of her life she would have heard her brother and sister telling her how much they loved her, kissing her and singing to her - these little things are a huge comfort right now.

I carried her every second of her life and now I will love her every second of mine. She was so wanted and so loved. We will miss her every day and things will never be the same. My forever baby, we will never forget you 💖’

Craig and I were excited to be having our third baby in early September this year. We went for our 20 week scan in Andover and this is where we were told the devastating news that our baby girl no longer had a heartbeat. Nothing can ever prepare you for being told your baby has died.

We were referred back to Winchester hospital where I want to talk to you all about the team who supported us. In Winchester hospital they have the Butterfly Suite; a bedroom, living room and bathroom made into a homely place for grieving parents to spend time with their babies, who are either born sleeping or have little time when they are born.  These have been the worst days of our lives but somehow the team helped us to create memories with Everley that are warm and special and I will treasure them forever.

Labour and delivery of  baby Everley was as calm and beautiful as it could have been. At points when things were more difficult, my amazing midwife explained everything and my voice was always heard and whatever I wanted happened. At 0205, 27th April 2023 (21+1 weeks) baby Everley was born and her Daddy had his first cuddle.

We spent a whole day and another night with Everley thanks to the cold cots available and being able to stay together in the butterfly suite. We could have stayed as long as we wanted with her and the team never rushed us but we knew when it was time to say goodbye.

Leaving our baby in hospital was the hardest thing I have ever had to do. You aren’t meant to walk out of hospital without your baby. The team at Winchester helped make this very painful time slightly easier by ensuring Everley had special things with her; like her blanket, Bunny, photo of Craig and I and her muzzie. They gave us books, toys and advice for how we could support Scarlett and Teddy, without this support I would have been feeling even more anxious.

I don’t know what we would have done without the love and care of the team at Winchester and my community midwife. They are such special people to do their job, we needed them and they guided and supported us in a place I never thought we would be. If you would like to help us support them (Forget me not fund 4639) please consider giving a donation in Everley’s name. We won’t ever forget her.

PLEASE ADD FUND NUMBER 4639 IN THE COMMENTS OF ANY DONATION YOU MAKE TO ENSURE THE MONEY COMES DIRECTLY TO THE FORGET ME NOT FUND. THANK YOU
