The Coronavirus pandemic has created an unprecedented humanitarian crisis, and there is an extreme hunger crisis in India. 

I write to appeal for your help to feed starving people who now depend upon our kindness for their next meal. The charity Lily has been working hard to feed the rural and urban poor, and daily wage migrant labour stuck in cities with no work. And girls are at greater risk of trafficking because of the pandemic. Families such as these are now regularly given rations.

1) In Delhi, an emaciated 16-year old girl with her two tiny skeletal month-old twins was found living on the pavement. She had not eaten for two days and her babies had no milk. Her husband, a daily wager, had no money.
2) Migrant labour in a Bangalore slum, coming from distant Bengal, Cooch Behar, U.P., M.P., and Bihar, were found starving. All construction is shut down. A pregnant woman there had eaten only two meagre meals in three days.
3) A middle-aged couple in a Delhi slum were found mixing grass with flour to cook chappati bread. The entire slum of migrant labour did that. The grass gave them a stomach ache but dulled their hunger.

I know there are many demands upon your purse these days, but these are men, women and children just like us. No amount is too small. It costs a mere £5 for one bag of rations that will feed a family of four for a few days. Please help save lives.
